The Mecca Celebrity Hotel

Well, that’s it. We officially hosted our FIRST EVER celebrity hotel. And what a weekend that was!

For those of you who don’t know what we are talking about, we took over the Royal Boston Hotel in Blackpool to entertain 75 lucky Meccabingo.com winners. Not only that, we also had a fantastic bunch of celebrities on hand to take care of them, at the glitziest hotel on the coast.

We had TOWIE’s favourite, Bobby Norris pulling pints (yes really) and causing a stir on the bar, Tina Malone with a feather duster in her hand ensuring the hotel was super clean at all times, and Geordie Shore’s very own James Tindale and Ibiza Weekender’s, David Potts as our very professional hotel reps. Finally, we even recruited Benidorm’s Sherrie Hewson to be our manager for the weekend!

If that wasn’t enough, we put on two nights of entertainment with the likes of Robin Windsor showing our guests some impressive dance moves, and the one and only Gareth Gates serenading guests on the Saturday evening. Very exciting huh?

After their jobs were done and the celebs had some downtime, we were lucky enough to sit down with them for a little chinwag. With some great questions, and some interesting answers how couldn’t we share them with you guys?

Geordie Shore’s James Tindale

What do you love most about staying in a hotel?

The staff, the guests, and the fact I don’t have to do any work when chilling in a hotel!

Do you sleep with 1pillow or 2?

Two big soft pillows to sink into.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever left /found in a hotel room?

I once left a watch in a hotel and when I went back to get it the receptionist had sellotaped her number on the inside! I never actually realised until later that night when I took it off.

If you could theme one room in a hotel what would it be?

A jungle room would be sick! And I could sleep like the king of the jungle.

What’s the most important thing on a full English Breakfast?

Definitely has to be a decent sausage.

Have you worked in hospitality before?

I once hosted an event and was painted from head to toe in gold paint pretending to be a statue holding a tray of champers. It’s safe to say it didn’t go well and I ended up drinking most of the champagne…

If you could switch job roles with any other celeb what would it be?

I’ve got the easiest job in the Meccabingo.com hotel by a mile so I wouldn’t swap with anyone.

What’s your highlight from working at the Meccabingo.com hotel?

Having two women fight over me.

If you weren’t famous what job would you do?

I would more than likely be a personal trainer or maybe a stripper.

What does your last Whatsapp say?

I couldn’t disclose this, I’d end up in trouble!

Ibiza Weekender’s David Potts

Two – you’ve got to be comfy.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever left/found in a hotel room?

Ocean Beach.

What’s the most important thing on a full English breakfast?

Eggs, definitely eggs

Have you worked in hospitality before now?

Yes, repping on Ibiza Weekender for ITV. It’s on again right now!

If you could switch job roles with any of the other celebs who would it be?

Any singer as I love singing! From this weekend it would be Gareth Gates.

What is your highlight from working at the Mecca hotel this weekend?

Meeting everyone and having a good chat and a laugh.

If you weren’t famous, what job do you think you would have?

I’d be a holiday rep, I need to be in the sunshine!

Tina Malone

What do you love most about staying in a hotel?

I’m a home bird, I never sit down, never stop cooking and cleaning. So in a hotel it’s the only time I haven’t got bleach or a mop, hoover or cloth in my hand, so I try and rest.

Do you sleep with 1 pillow or 2?

I sleep with 1 pillow, always have done.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever left /found in a hotel room?

I leave a charger everywhere I go. I worked in a Holiday Inn for 7 years, so I’ve found lots of strange things. I actually left a suitcase once in Cyprus, it had my make-up and Jimmy Choo’s in there though!

If you could theme one room in a hotel what would it be?

It would be Hollywood Icons, actresses, Grace Kelly, Susan Sarandon style.

What’s the most important thing on a full English Breakfast?

I love a full English, and it has to be eggs. The eggs are the best.

If you could switch job roles with any other celeb what would it be?

I would work behind the bar, I’ve done that on screen, and in nightclubs.

What’s your highlight from working at the Meccabingo.com hotel?

My highlight was the service. It’s everything, everyone was so friendly and helpful, from the bar staff to reception.

If you weren’t famous what job would you do?

I would be a politician; I’d like to be the leader of the Labour party.
